The aperitif Le Sautel was made from aged Grenache, a red wine grape, and dates back to 1796. It was originally Developed by Nicolas Sautel in a convent in Mazan. The aperitif won several awards and medals in both Paris and London. Le Sautel is produced today in Mazan by the winegrowers; Cave des vignerons de Canteperdrix.
Italian-born Dellepianeentered the École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille 1880 where he studied with Marius Guindonuntil 1885, followed by a brief stay in Genoa. After 1890, he lived in Paris, where he was influenced by the poster art of Alfons Mucha. Later, he worked under the direction of Jules Chéret, another well known poster artist, who taught him lithography. For a time, he also studied Japanese art. His first success came with a poster created in 1899 for the 25th centenary of the founding of Marseille. A street in Marseille was named after him in 1937.
