This is one of several posters by Fraipoint for the Northern Railroad Company, announcing excursions to Pierrefonds, Compiegne and Coucy-le-Château. The artist, in a pleasant painterly style, depicts the wondrous historic sights of the area. The vibrant greens of the landscape set against a brilliant blue sky, contrast well with the elegant old style type, set in red and yellow. This Brussels born artist was a painter and illustrator in Paris where he collaborated on Le Courrier Francais and other revues. He also created numerous posters, largely for the French rail.
