The "Nouveau Salon des Cent" portfolio consists of a hundred posters created by one hundred of the best graphic designers of our time, from 24 different countries including China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Zimbabwe, the United-States and most of the European countries, as a tribute to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, for the Centenary of his death, 1901-2001. Initiated by the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum Partners' Club. In cooperation with the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum of Albi. The printing was limited to only 380. The posters have been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world.
The Designer - Volker Pfuller
1939, born in Leipzig, Germany, studied at the 'Fachschule fur anqewandte Kunst', Berlin-Oberschoneweide, studied at the 'Kunsthochschule' Berlin-Weissensee with professors Klemke, Mohr and Wittkugel.
From 1978, teacher graphic design and scenery design in Berlin. 1990-1991, visiting professor illustration at the GHK Kassel. 1991-1997, professor scenery design at the 'Kunsthochschule' Berlin-Weissensee. Since 1997, professor illutration at the 'Hochschule fur Grafik und Buchkunst' in Leipzig.
Member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI). Field of activity Scenery design (Berlin, Florence, Hamburg, Tel Aviv). Exhibition design, posters, book and illustrations. Participation in numerous exhibitions all over the world as graphic designer and scenery desiqner. Since 1975, solo exhibitions in Berlin, Chaumont, Chemnitz, Cottbus, Frankfurt/M, Hall, Leipzig, Munich, Oberursel, Scherin and Wiswar.
Awards
Several awards for poster designs 'Die 100 besten Plakate' (the 100 best posters) and 'Schonste Biicher der DDR' (best books of DDR). 1981, 1983 and 1985, critics award from the Berliner Zeitung as scenery designer. 1983, silver medal as costume designer at the International Quadrennial for scenery design in Prague. 1986, 'Kunstpreis' (art award) from DDR. 1987, silver medal at the Poster Biennale in Lahti.
