The Portfolio
The "Nouveau Salon des Cent" portfolio consists of a hundred posters created by one hundred of the best graphic designers of our time, from 24 different countries including China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Zimbabwe, the United-States and most of the European countries, as a tribute to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, for the Centenary of his death, 1901-2001. Initiated by the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum Partners' Club. In cooperation with the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum of Albi. The printing was limited to only 380. The posters have been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world.
The Designer - Ronald Curchod
I was born in Morges in 1954, on the Swiss and sweet shore of the Leman lake. 1974. With my federal diploma in graphic design, and after four training years in Lausanne, I go for a trip to the bordering France, for a fortnight or more... I never went back.
Self-made man. In 1979, I settle in Toulouse with my companion. As my son is announcing his coming into this planet, I set to work under the sun and design commercial illustrations full of colours. Around 1984, I orient my work to cultural, institutional and publisher circles. I invent posters, illustrations, costumes, several scenographies... In the meantime, since 1989, I paint pictures for my own desire.
Paintings, gouaches, photographs. Matter for exhibitions and matter for books. All these images invented, commissioned or freely desired, from gouache oil or silver materials, influence and coopt each other without any hierarchy of importance. Genres even mix sometimes. Now, pictures often fill the whole time of my days.
