"A red-haired lady with fauna and flora, plus a sailboat in the background is the subject of an original lithograph commissioned by the publishers of L'Estampe Moderne, where the concept of the design was explained as a garden of dreams where visions appear amidst mysterious flowers, 'The fairy tale princess who dreamt of the return of her prince sees him coming off a white sailboat, with his loyal greyhound greeting him with joy" (Rennert PAI)

Georges De Feure in studio

"Is there such a thing a thing as feminine mystique? Georges de Feure, for one, explores that side of the female psyche perhaps more thoroughly than any other posterist. He views his women as enigmatic, often portraying them with sly little smile of private amusement" (Gold p.24)

Mucha Cover

Not unlike the Maitre de L'Affiche series, L'Estampe Moderne was a portfolio printed between 1897-98, published by Imprimerie Champenois, Paris, contained 24 monthly portfolios, with four original lithographs in each. Each commissioned only for this series. As well as Mucha, some of the contributing artists included Rhead, Meunier, Ibels, Steinlen, Willette and Grasset. This is from the series with the blindstamp in the margin lower right corner.
