The Restaurant
"Born in 1927 and once a leading center of artistic life, La
Coupole is now the epitome of the grand Paris brasserie in Montparnasse.
Former patrons included Josephine Baker, Henry Miller, Dalí, Calder,
Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Picasso. At one of its sidewalk tables,
you can sit and watch the passing scene and order a coffee or a cognac
VSOP. The food is quite good, despite the fact that the dining room
resembles an enormous rail-station waiting room. Try main dishes like
sole meunière, cassoulet, fresh oysters, shellfish, grilled lobster
with flambéed whisky sauce, and some of the best pepper steak in Paris.
The waiters are as rude and inattentive as ever, and aficionados of
the place wouldn't have it any other way" (Frommer's
Paris 2004)
The Poster
"The feel of limitless space, crystal pure gleaming colours and
omission of all distractions combine to give all Razzia posters a
surrealistic touch, an aura of timelessness and infinity. Even his
human forms are sublimated beyond reality. His woman are so purified
that they do not remind us of any flesh-and-blood person but stand
as symbols of the eternally feminine... Razzia is already the first
21st century posterist. He started doing posters in the 1970's for
some of the prestigious firm's like Harrods, Louis Vuitton, Guy Laroche
and in the U.S., Macy's and Bloomingdale'... His work contains elements
reminiscent of Art Deco and of surrealism and he uses these in imaginative
images to create a style uniquely his own and ever new" (Rennert,
PAI-XIV, 422)
