Using minimal subdued tones and infusing geometric shapes into the coat and hat
of the elegant lady with walking stick, dress billowing, Ellis gives us 'The Gay
Parisienne'. An English theatre performance. She seems to be stepping out of the
poster thru a lit stylized entrance. The softness of line in the face and hat
contrast with the flat planes that make up her dress and the background. The adage
'less is more' becomes increasingly evident, the longer one looks at this deceptively
simple design. |
