This magical poster is for the Theâtre Pompadour in Paris, which is named
for the infamous Madame de Pompadour who became the mistress and lifelong confidante
of Louis XV, and was a notable patron of the arts. A likeness of her, mask in
hand is used effectively in this moody flowing composition which includes large
marionettes hanging from the letter "R" of the heading "Theatre".
Overall a soft sensuous handling by the artist Barcet, creates a memorable poster.
