"Carqueville's large body of posters for Philadelphia based Lippincott's
magazine was completed before he left his native Chicago to study in Paris. On
his return, he set up a studio in Chicago, where he had a long productive career
as a lithographer, designer and painter
Writing in London, Charles Hiatt
praised Carqueville's 'skill in making vehement colour contrast' Case in point:
This sporty chap enjoying a pipe decked out in his fashionable tennis whites.
