The Portfolio
The "Nouveau Salon des Cent" portfolio consists of a
hundred posters created by one hundred of the best graphic designers
of our
time, from 24 different countries including China, Japan, Mexico,
Brazil, Zimbabwe, the United-States and most of the European countries,
as a tribute to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, for the Centenary of
his
death, 1901-2001. Initiated by the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum Partners'
Club. In cooperation with the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum of Albi.
The
printing was limited to only 380. The posters have been exhibited
in major museums and galleries around the world. View

The Designer - Ikko Tanaka
Born in Nara, Japan, in 1930.
Recipient of the 'Asahi Prize' from the Asahi Shimbun, the 'Grand
Prix' from the Tokyo Art Directors Club, and the 'First Yusaku
Kamekura Design Award'.
Inducted into both the New York Art Directors Club Hall of Fame
and Tokyo Art Directors Club Hall of Fame.
Has been honoured with the Purple Ribbon Medal and as a Person
of Cultural Merit. Has had solo exhibitions at the Paviglione d'Arte
Contemporanea in Milan, Italy, 1997; the Toyama Prefectorial Museum
of Art in Toyama, Japan, 1998; the Museo de Arte de Sao Paolo in
Brazil, and the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, Japan,
1999; the Bauhaus-archive Museum of Design in Berlin, Germany,
2000. Member of the Tokyo Art Directors Club, the Alliance Graphique
Internationale and trustee of the Japan Graphic Designers Association. |
