The Portfolio

 

The "Nouveau Salon des Cent" portfolio consists of a hundred posters created by one hundred of the best graphic designers of our time, from 24 different countries including China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Zimbabwe, the United-States and most of the European countries, as a tribute to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, for the Centenary of his death, 1901-2001. Initiated by the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum Partners' Club. In cooperation with the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum of Albi. The printing was limited to only 380. The posters have been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world.

 

The Designer - Paul Davis

 

Illustrator and graphic designer, was born and raised in Oklahoma and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York. Mr. Davis was at Pushpin Studios from 1959 to 1963. His first illustrations were published in Playboy in 1959. Soon thereafter, he joined Push Pin Studio until 1963. His illustrations have since appeared in Life, Time, Look, Sports Illustrated, Evergreen Review, Harper's Horizon, McCall's, Show, Esquire, The New Republic, New York, The New York Times, the New Yorker, Mirabella, Fast Company, Worth, Money and many other publications. He was Art Director of Joseph Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival from 1984 to 1992.Recent clients have been UNITE!, Disney, Lincoln Center, McKinsey & Co. Rolling Stone, Yahoo, Adobe and A&E Television. He is on the faculty of the School of Visual Arts, a fellow of the American Academy in Rome, a member of the Art Director's Hall of Fame, and a member of the prestigious Applemaster program utilizing Macintosh technologies in new and creative ways.

Third Prize, Primera Bienial Internacional del Cartel en Mexico. 1991 Silver Medal, Society of Publication Designers. 1992 Segunda Bienial Internacional del Cartel en Mexico\Special Mention, Parrish Art Museum Invitational, Southampton, NY. 1993 Silver Medal, Art Directors Club. 1997 Selected as Apple-Master by Apple Computers. 1998 Honoured with School of Visual Arts Master Series. 2001 Nishimura Gallery, Tokyo, 'Two Lives', joint exhibition with Tadanori Yokoo.
