The painter and lithographer Maurice Eliot was born in Paris. Eliot
first studied in the atelier of Émile Bin, where he met Signac and
Henri Rivière. Eliot then entered the Beaux-Arts, Paris, where he
was a pupil of Adolphe Yvon and of Cabanel. Maurice Eliot was born
in Paris, and specialised in Parisian subjects. For forty years Maurice
Eliot taught pastel and drawing at the École Polytechnique.

The École Polytechnique
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, and was a founder
member of the Salon d'Automne. Maurice Eliot was the brother of the
writer and artist Jeanne Eliot. Maurice Eliot was highly regarded
as a lithographer, but in fact produced very few lithographs. (Idbury
