Henri Héran The real name of the Symbolist painter and lithographer
was Paul Herrmann. Herrmann was born in Munich, but living in Paris
decided to adopt a French pseudonym. Héran was a contributor to L'Estampe
Moderne. Héran is particularly remembered for his 1907 illustrations
to Baudelaire's Petits Poèmes en Prose. Héran was a close friend of
the Nobel Prize-winning writer Paul Heyse. (Idbury Prints)
Mucha Cover
Not unlike the Maitre de L'Affiche series, L'Estampe
Moderne was a portfolio printed between 1897-98, published
by Imprimerie Champenois, Paris, contained 24 monthly portfolios,
with four original lithographs in each. Each commissioned only for
this series. Some of the contributing artists included Mucha, Rhead,
Meunier, Ibels, Steinlen, Willette and Grasset.
