Poster Auction NEWS $1,640,000 Sold at Record Poster Auction...
...at the Poster Auctions International Sale March 12th 2017 in NYC.
Record setting prices surprised everyone at the sale.
Highlights included the sales of Mucha's totalling over $200,000.
As well Toulouse-Lautrec sales of over $220,000.
Works by Cassandre and Loupot reached never before seen prices.
Cassandre’s 1932 Pathé (pictured left) $96,000, Nord Express: $52,800,
and a single large panel of the Dubonnet triptych: $66,000.
Charles Loupot's extremely rare Essolube: $55,200
and the dramatic Lion Noir: $48,000, both broke records.
Overall an excellent sign that the vintage poster market is strong.

Spectacle and Leisure in Paris: Degas to Mucha

Bringing together a broad selection of prints, posters, photographs, and film,
offers an overview of the thriving entertainment cultures of Paris
in the last decades of the nineteenth century.
The art of Pierre Bonnard, Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Pablo Picasso, and others addresses the pulsating life of the boulevards, the speed of the racetrack, and the performance worlds of the café-concert, ballet, opera, and the theater, both classical and popular.
These diverse themes inspired traditional as well as innovative mediums: for example, by the rapid development of the popular commercial poster in the hands of Jules Chéret, Alphonse Mucha, and Toulouse-Lautrec.

Spring is here and like the Belle Époque (the beautiful era) the country side starts to blossom.
